Guests listening to speeches in Hawthorndon Court
Salt of the Earth was officially launched on 11 December 1998 at the new Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. Hamish Henderson of Edinburgh University's School of Scottish Studies (pictured below left, standing) gave the keynote speech recounting his involvement in the WEA in Northern Ireland and his role in and support of people's history. Dalkeith group member Ella Sked talked impressively on the key elements during her long and interesting life. The speeches were followed by a reception in the Royal Museum, where guests were able to meet project participants and view a video presentation on the project work to date.
