The three pilot groups for the Salt of the Earth project were based in Alness in Ross-shire, Dalkeith in Midlothian, and Strichen in Aberdeenshire. On 23 July 1998, participants in and tutors of these three pilot groups were invited to the Atholl Arms Hotel in Dunkeld to share recordings and thoughts on the project.
