Salt of the Earth, in conjunction with the North Ayr Partnership, held a launch in Ayr in March 1999. It was well attended by interested parties. The Craigmillar Cybergrannies talked about and demonstrated their Time Lines website, to illustrate the high-tech potential of projects such as Salt of the Earth.
A group was formed in North Ayr in May 1999. The focus of their discussions will be along a general health theme, highlighting the health of the local community from a wide perspective. It was decided to explore the general question, "Was mining the pits?"
