Addiewell Group


Group tutor Matthew Gibson outside the Addiewell Miners' Welfare buildingThis group had been convened as a local history initiative but were interested in recording some of the people in the community. There has been collaborative involvement with a schools community arts project, a health project and local primary schools. Addiewell Miners' Choir They have also documented the 50th anniversary of Addiewell Miners' Welfare (building pictured right, with group tutor Matthew Gibson in the foreground). The anniversary celebrations featured the reunion of the Addiewell Miners' Choir (pictured left).

The group have been making advances in recording and interviewing. A local gala celebration was held in June, where the group members showcased some of their work along with that of the other projects.

Currently, the participants are meeting with a community arts development worker to establish a format to exhibit their work in conjunction with the local schoolchildren.
