Traditional Aberdeenshire farm servants' bothy representation
October 1999 saw the start of two Salt of the Earth groups based in Aberdeen. One is looking at the social effects of the oil industry on the city and surrounds. The participants will examine Aberdeen as it was before the 1970s oil boom, and the subsequent changes to aspects such as housing, family life and general employment.
The other group plans to tour, on a weekly basis, some of the more remote inner Aberdeenshire villages. They will link with local organisations, schools and residential homes, and record with a focus on language and dialect.
