St. Vincent de Paul Church

The local Roman Catholic church is located on the High Street across from Thorntree Hall. It was opened in 1960 to replace their former place of worship, which had once been the Village Hall. Some residents were not happy that the Church took over the Village Hall; the events that once took place there had to move to Strachan's (now Thorntree) Hall.

When the idea of the new chapel was put forward, legend has it that local residents were asked to help with the construction, contributing a shilling for a brick in the final building. The Village Hall was demolished beforehand; there is now a priest's house there.
