NORTH
OF SCOTLAND TOURS
THE
NORTH EAST COASTAL TRAIL 7 Nights/8 Days
Following the clearly marked Aberdeen to Inverness cycle route,
this fascinating tour is initially on the easy inclines of the old
railway track of the Formartine and Buchan Way. It continues north
through fertile farmland and small villages to rejoin the beautiful
north coast at the fishing village of Banff. From here hop from
one seaside bay to another along this picturesque coastline-fishing
villages, sandy beaches, rocky cliffs and prolific wildlife on land
and sea. Visit castles, distilleries, museums, ruined Elgin Cathedral
and Culloden Battlefield before reaching the end of your journey
at the Highland capital city of Inverness. Itinerary
THE
MORAY COAST AND WHISKY TRAIL 7 Nights/8 Days
From Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands travel east along the
quiet roads of Moray. There are many historical sites to visit,
the Battlefield of Culloden, Cawdor Castle and Gardens, Brodie Castle
and at Fort George on the coast there is the Regimental Museum
of the Queen’s Own Highlanders. Perhaps have a swim from the golden
sands of Lossiemouth before turning south along the banks of the
River Spey. This area is famous for its many distilleries. Many malt
whiskies such Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Cardhu and Tamdhu are produced
alongside your route and some distilleries are open to visitors.
Continue through this area of great scenic beauty to the quiet village
of Grantown-on-Spey and from there to the Cairngorm Mountains near
the Highland resort town of Aviemore. Return to Inverness by train
on the last day. Itinerary
WESTER
ROSS ADVENTURE 8 Nights/9 Days
This Wester Ross coastal road is unequalled not only in Scotland
but anywhere in the world. It changes at every corner from beautiful
seascapes to mist covered mountains. Sometimes even the weather
round the corner is from another season. This challenging
tour begins at the Highland Capital of Inverness and after a short
train journey on the scenic Kyle of Lochalsh Line, cycling begins
at the small station of Achnasheen. Your journey takes you along
the side of Loch Maree to Gairloch and from there follows the coast
to Ullapool, Lochinver and Scourie........steep climbs, sharp bends
and exciting descents! The straight almost flat road down the side
of Loch Shin to Lairg is a pleasant contrast and you cross the North
of Scotland to reach the beautiful sandy beaches of Dornoch in Sutherland.
Time to relax and recover from you previous exertions before your
train journey back to Inverness.
