Day 1. Arrive INVERNESS: collect cycles, route briefing and instructions.

Elgol and the CuillinDay 2. INVERNESS - BROADFORD                    8ml(13km)
A scenic train journey from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh. Cross the new bridge to Skye and follow the sea round the coast to the village of Broadford. From there you can enjoy a lovely cycle ride to Elgol where a boat trip takes you into the Cuillin Mountains.

 

Day 3. BROADFORD - PORTREE               27ml(43km)
Uig BayThe road follows the coast with fine sea views to the island of Scalpay and to the west the mighty Cuillin Mountains. Continue around Lochs Ainort and Sligachan to arrive at the main town of the island Portree.

 

Day 4. PORTREE - DUNVEGAN                  22ml(35km)
Make your way across the heather-clad moors to the west side of the island. Stop at Talisker Distillery for a tour and perhaps a small sample of malt whisky. At Dunvegan visit the Castle, the oldest inhabited castle in Britain and the family home of the MacLeod Clan.

 

Neist Point & LighthouseDay 5. DUNVEGAN - SCONSER                27ml(44km)
Southwards now never far from the sea, past Struan and Loch Harport to reach the east coast again at Sconser.

 

Day 6. SCONSER - BROADFORD                   17ml(27km)
In the morning take the ferry for a short crossing to the peaceful Island of Raasay. Explore its history, forest paths and wildlife and enjoy the fine views of Skye and Applecross. Return to continue the short distance to your overnight stop at Broadford.

 

Skye BridgeDay 7. BROADFORD - INVERNESS               8ml(13km)
A short trip and you are over the Skye Bridge to catch the train at Kyle of Lochalsh for Inverness.
