A
magical trip cycling and sailing around the former Zuiderzee.
The 17th century in Holland is known as the "Golden Age",
a time when the country was a powerful seafaring and trading nation
and towns such as Monnickendam, Hoorn, Vollenhove, Harderwijk
and of course Amsterdam, all bear witness to their rich pasts.
Cycling and sailing around the Ijsselmeer, as it is now called,
is the ideal way to discover and experience this wonderful heritage.
You will pass through four different landscapes, the typical Dutch
polder area of windmills and ditches, the marshy region of the
Weerribben National Park, the heathland and woodland area of the
Veluwe and the unique lake and peat bog region around the rivers
Vecht and Amstel. Visit museums and other historical sights and
for children a trip to the Walibi Amusement Park and the Dolphinarium
is an unforgettable xperience.
