IN FRANCE
CYCLING
IN THE DORDOGNE
In
this peaceful region of south-west France you will enjoy beautiful
meandering rivers, charming medieval villages, rich vineyards, undulating
green hills, limestone cliffs and a wealth of historic sites. Steeped
in history the Dordogne region has an unforgettable charm. Centuries
of erosion have carved the river valleys out of the limestone rocks
resulting in majestic clifftop castles perched above the river and
in the rock caves a wealth of archaeological finds.
LAND
OF TWO VALLEYS 7 Nights/8 Days
This circular journey begins in the small town of Sarlat beautifully
restored to its original medieval condition in 1963. Take a stroll
along its narrow streets and explore the 6th century
Cathedral, the market and the many fine old buildings. From Sarlat
you will travel south to the Dordogne River, visit medieval towns
such as Domme and ancient castles built to defend the region against
the English.Over the centuries the Rivers Dordogne and Vézère have
cut deep gorges into the limestone creating spectacular cliffs and
caves. Around Les Eyzies there are outstandingly preserved cave
paintings and carvings created by our ancestors fifteen thousand
years ago.Enjoy this wonderful landscape at your own pace with the
freedom that only cycling provides.. Itinerary
LAND
OF MEDIEVAL TOWNS 7 Nights/8 Days
Explore the valley of the Dordogne River and discover an area shaped
by its turbulent history. The Hundred Years War was the last big
event to shake the sleepy
villages and the many castles and chateaux are reminders
of this. The English influence is still apparent in many towns and
villages particularly south of the river. You will enjoy a leisurely
journey through its peaceful countryside visiting vineyards, quaint
towns and villages, churches and abbeys. Itinerary
CYCLING
IN THE ANJOU AND THE LOIRE VALLEY
ANJOU
is the country of "La douceur de vivre", as described
by the poet Joachim Du Bellay. Probably because of the mildness
of its climate or perhaps because of the beauty of its landscape,
you will experience a wonderful sense of tranquillity as you enjoy
the leisurely cycling on its back roads, forest trails and the flat
tracks alongside La Loire. Besides its rich history, illustrated
by the famous Chateaux, churches, mills, and "troglodytes sites",
you are invited to discover its charming and lovely people; Anjou
offers you its best - the impressive warm welcome of its inhabitants.
To enjoy it at best, your evening stays, dinner and accommodation
will take place at selected "Chambres d'Hôtes", where
you can enjoy good food, good wine (Anjou is THE country of vineyards)
together with charming hosts. We have personally selected these
overnight places, to offer you the best.
Cycling in Anjou is a wonderful experience, thanks to the softness
of its landscape, the easy quiet back roads through forests and
vineyards, its mild climate and sunny panoramas.
