Day
1. Arrive MONTECATINI TERME
Explore this fashionable spa town.
Day
2. Circular tour from MONTECATINI TERME 34ml(55km)
Cycle
on small paths through olive groves to the small town of Vinci,
the birthplace of Leonardo, where you can visit the castle of
the earls Guidi with its Leonardo museum. Return by the golf course
to Montecatini Terme.
Day
3. MONTECATINI TERME - PISA 31ml(50km)
Take the train to Lucca, a gem of a town enclosed within its ancient
walls. Cycle via the dam and hidden paths to the sea and then
on to Pisa. Explore this city famous for its Cathedral and "Leaning
Tower".
Day 4. PISA - CASCIANA TERME 25ml(40km)
Cycle by the River Arno and then through slightly hilly wine country
to the spa town of Casciana Terme.
Day 5. CASCIANA TERME - SAN GIMIGNANO/POGGIBONSI 34ml(55km)
Through the landscape of vineyards and rolling hills you see in
the distance the outline of San Gimignano's high towers. It is
the best preserved medieval city in Italy with 15 towers, beautiful
streets, churches and public buildings giving an impression that
time has stood still.
Day 6. SAN GIMIGNANO/POGGIBONSI - SIENA 28ml(45km)
Cycle through Tuscany's wonderful landscape to the architectural
paradise Siena. This medieval city, built on three hills, is especially
well known for the annual "II Palio" horse race, held
on Piazza del Campo, Siena 's main square.
Day 7. SIENA - FLORENCE 31ml(50km)
On the last cycling day you ride through the hilly Chianti-region
where "Chianti Classico" comes from, to Greve. From
there by bus to Florence.
Day 8. Depart FLORENCE
