Your
Journey - Passau to Budapest and Vienna
Day
1. Arrive PASSAU: embarkation from 1600hrs. The cruise begins
at 1700hrs with a passage throught the wonderful landscape of
the "Schlogener Schlinge"(great loop). Enjoy dinner
on board with live music.
Day 2. TULLN - VIENNA
24ml/38km
M V Dunaj arrives in Tulln in the early morning. Begin cycling
beside the majestic River Danube passing the castle of Greifenstein
and the monastery of Klosterneuburg and arrive in Vienna. In the
evening the cruise continues to Komarno/Komarom, the separated
Slovakian city on the rivers Danube and Vah.
Day 3. KOMARNO - ESZTERGOM 34ml/54km
Cycle
on the Slovak side of the river on bike paths and side roads through
typical villages and vineyards to reach Esztergom. Visit the Dome,
Hungary's largest church and the national symbol of the Land of
Magyars.
Day 4. ESZTERGOM - BUDAPEST 42ml/68km
Enjoy
the fascinating landscape of the Danube Bend. Leaving Esztergom
the path continues to Szenttendre island and later arrives at
the lively and unusual artist's village of Szentendre. There are
fantastic views of both river banks as the ship cruises into Budapest.
Day 5. BUDAPEST
Spend
the morning sightseeing in Budapest visiting the "Heldenplatz"
(Hero's Square)and enjoying a scenic view from the hilltop of
the "Gellertberg". In the afternoon the ship begins
the return journey to Vienna.
Day
6. HAINBURG - VIENNA 31ml/50km
The border city of Hainburg opposite the impressive castle of
Devin is the starting point for today's cycling. Cycle on the
embankments and through the unspoilt and protected Austrian landscape
to arrive in the afternoon at the Danube metropolis of Vienna.
During the night the ship sails into the "Wachau" a
30km length of the Danube between Melk and Krem.
Day
7. THE WACHAU 25ml/40km
The Wachau is an inspirational UNESCO World Heritage Site. There
are wonderful river views of wooded slopes and vineyards, monasteries,
castles and fortresses. The destination for today's stage is Marbach
protected by the magnificent pilgrimage church of Maria Taferl,
high above the Danube. As the ship travels upstream enjoy the
Gala Farewell Dinner and Folklore Show.
Day
8. Depart PASSAU
After
a short journey the ship arrives at Passau for disembarkation
at 1130hrs.
