Message from the
Stars of Europe
Happy New Year to you all!
From the sky, above Europe we can see
children from many countries all starting the New Year and the new
term together.
All across Europe, in Denmark, in
Spain, in Greece and in Edinburgh, we are watching over children
as they come to school. Some children walk across paths, some
children push their way through crowded streets and busy
pavements, some children cycle through woods, some children come
by car with their parents.
We are worried about you children of
Europe! We do our best , but we can't be everywhere at once, and
it is getting harder and harder to keep you all safe. Children of
Sciennes, we need your help!
You are the ones who make the journey
to school every day. Use your imaginations! Imagine what Edinburgh
and other cities could be like in the future. Imagine a city where
children can be safer. How can you make your journey to school
safer? You have a lot of open space and parks near Sciennes -
could you use them? Could there be more parks to walk through?
Could it be made safe to cycle?
We are sure you will have lots of ideas
- make people listen to them! Children in other places in Europe
could help you too - tell them what you are doing . Send them
pictures, maps, plans - perhaps together you and the children of
Europe can make the cities of Europe better places for everyone.
The year 2000 is coming soon - can you make Edinburgh a safer
place by then?
