· THE FOWER SAISONS:

This pack is our first Resource Pack and, as such, is far more substantial than the Scotsheet packs. It contains material based on the four seasons of the year: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Although the seasons in Scotland are not really all the same length as one another, for the sake of convenience, each season is split into three months. That is to say, Spring consists of March - May; Summer consists of June - August; Autumn consists of September - November; and finally, Winter consists of December - February.

The material contained in this pack includes: Scottish historical information with songs relating to events which have taken place (which can be used as basic history or in in-depth project work); brief biographical details of famous Scots; some information about special occasions in the old Celtic Scottish year; poems; stories, and; small one act plays (a good way of giving pupils confidence in speaking Scots). The poems and the songs are included on a cassette.

Item Code: RPK001 · Price: £29.99

ALL of the material you see listed above has been a product of feedback given by teachers. The creator of the material, Dr Sheila Douglas, is a former teacher of twenty five years classroom experience, and she has used her own experience of teaching Scots language to devise the Starter Pack, which was thoroughly vetted and given approval by Dr Catherine Macafee of Aberdeen University English Department.

Dr Douglas also approached teachers with samples of the material in the Scotsheets to classroom test and encouraged them to say what they thought of the format. Their response invariably was on the lines of, "Do have any more?" and"When can we buy it?"

Top educationists were shown Scotsheets 1. Mr Robbie Robertson of the SCCC liked what he saw, so did the HM Inspectors. Tayside Region English Adviser, Mr Alastair Horne and Liz Niven of Dumfries & Galloway have actively been recommending the material to teachers in their respective areas.

Our two main aims are quite simple : to provide you with resource material on an ongoing basis, and to provide with the kind of material you feel would be most useful, so your feedback will always be greatly appreciated. Therefore, why not get in touch with us and tell us what you want to see in future Scotsheets packs and Resource packs?
