"A Parliament at Prayer" ?
(a report from The Courier, Dundee, 8-1-99.)
Here's a fundamental issue that I find MANY EDITORS 'OMIT',
"Should ANY Parliament have 'prayers' ? ",
My answer is IMMEDIATE. I answer "NO" to it,
For ALL GODS are just culture guessworks,
About which creed should rule the show.
It is a "PRICKLY QUESTION-and I am pleased to see,
That some 'religious' persons say "NO" the same as me.
The Queen of course is biased as is the next in line,
They have both made POLICY STATEMENTS
Showing they want a "MULTI-FAITH" design.
But if they shouted "FREEDOM",like WALLACE on the rack,
They would SEE a DEMOCRATIC AGNOSTIC IDEOLOGY,
Would be the WISEST HUMAN TACK.
Religious power is TERRIBLE it has BURNED and SHOT
The rivals of the orthodoxy on the ruling spot.
Suppose the Presbyters are chosen to be in place today,
The Catholics may be next to claim their evil say,
The Pope has not condemned the IRA despite their many kills,
What a criminal to foster Pro & Anti-RC military drills.
Alex Salmond is AN IDIOT to arouse this needless waste,
Of time and discontent due to rousing hatreds so misplaced.
I believe in HUMAN FREEDOM just as WALLACE seemed to do,
So let's have it free from prayers as I think we all can do.
Let the ruling be from people who live in Scotland now,
Do not follow the SNP : follow HUMAN SCOTTISH THINKING
Such as I now present to you.
I had hopes that Alex Salmond would be A NEW DEMOCRAT,
To plan a way of thinking under a SCIENCE ERA HAT,
But his lead into the antics of WESTMINSTER PARLIAMENT,
In saying prayers each day, Shows he is NOT a real REFORMER,
In a brave "William Wallace", way.
He should read the ARBROATH DECLARATION, and take up the
"FREEDOM" cry,
Freedom from Religion has been a lifelong quest for me,
For I became a global democrat in political theory.
I joined the Universal POETS and enjoyed their company,
And as a teacher I INSISTED that I and all my children,
Should be immediately set free from all theology,
For theology is nonsense and many SCIENTISTS AGREE,
That the time has come for GLOBAL THOUGHT for all HUMANITY.
British sovereignty is EVIL and should not be allowed,
It is the same with other PART-WORLD sovereignties,
Some with monarchies and aristocracy endowed.
Let us PRAISE HUMAN DEMOCRACY and pioneer the way,
To a SINGLE HUMAN NATION with a SCIENCE ERA DAY,
