Health and Political Reform
 
Wise folk will tell you that Health is more than Wealth,
And I had more Health than Wealth in my terrestrial life,
But I chose to be a teacher and you will hear it every day,
A teaching life has nice short hours but not a decent pay.
After 38 years of teaching I could count upon one hand,
The days I have been AWOL from my class command.
But my Health has not been perfect for maladies I’ve seen,
Have made me praise the NHS and those upon its scene,
I have had lots of mild diseases as a child,a youth and man,
I have had measles,chickenpox, and a ringworm ban,
I have had earache and bellyache and many kinds of “flu,
Impetigo, Conjunctivitis, Bronchitis and Diarrhoea too.
I have had swollen glands and prostatitis (OH! the PAIN!)
I tell Linda all about it and it makes her laugh again,
She says it can’t be half as bad as the childbirth fling,
But we cannot swap to prove this, which is a lucky thing!
My mind boggles at the prospect of delivering a child,
Because one inch of constipation is enough to drive me wild!
We used to get the CASTOR OIL or the BEECHAM’s pill.
Or the LIQUID PARAFFIN or CASCARA when we were very ill,
I remember, my Bronchitis, got Ipecacuanha Wine,
Which sounded worse than WHISKY on my DAD’s teetotal line,
Anyway it was an EMETIC to clear out all the glut,
Which escaped my bronchial site to my digestive gut.
But it was the “swollen glands” thing which was BAD to me,
The Eustachian was blocked and burst my eardrum for me,
A running ear neglected meant a perforated drum,
And deafness for the poet from then to GLOBEDAY COME!
Most GPs will know about it now but this was long ago,
So if you get a running ear contact the EN&T folk show,
I have been doubtful of vacinnations all my adult life.
GBS was too and from him I dodged the world jagger’s knife,
I have often thought that I was lucky to be born in the UK,
Where the knowledge of diseases is pretty much OK,
But GLOBALISM is beckoning and we DARE NOT refuse,
To spread the GD EDUCATION which BRITISH MINDS don’t use.
WE must PLUG GLOBAL NATIONALISM from now to GLOBEDAY COME,
For no amount of NATO MILITARISM can make a WORLD HOME.
We should listen to the WORLDISTS -- USE their faith today
DESPISE the UK SOVEREIGNTISTS and ANTI-HUMANISTS for AYE!
All the ‘Yanks; and ‘British’(etc) must CONVERT to HUMANITY,
Then REFORM THE WORLD to ONE DEMOCRATIC NATIONALITY!
