GEO's Death (Aged 86)

I see my lifelong partner's death as a warning that my own days may be few,
To try to spread the ideology of human solidarity around the world for you.
For you and all the people who share the possible human felicity,
Of the world a single nation of human beings sharing universal complicity.
It is the old, old story of a NATION OF MANKIND with a scientific clue.
To teach all humans to be universalists while being locals too.
I have had a dream of universalism since I served the bombing R.A.F.in 1945.
And I formed a aspirational company called WORLD PARLIAMENT to make it "live"
But the world is full of nationalisms served by multi-millionaires.
Who did NOT approve my vision nor my world of people getting more equal shares.
But that was not the reson for rejection -- old religions from the past.
Were still believed by BILLIONS of fighting members for faiths I has outcast.
I advised a global language and a global money too but these they would not do.
But these will come eventually , I feel that they are both sure and true.
One government for ALL HUMANS is a virtual CERTAINTY as well.
Along with rejection of human union on which most thinkers seem to dwell.
I have been preparing for emigration now that Geo is no longer here with me
I am moving back to Canada and USA as a more modern basis for demo-liberty,
I have admired the folk in Canada and have taught school in USA,
And I think I may be listened to more fairly on the issue of "WORLD UNITY".
I remember a book by NAOMI MITCHISON (1962] "WHAT THE HUMAN RACE IS UP TO".
[Scrapped by Lochee Library 11 Dec,1982] indicated my ENEMIES in power.
And I had marked the list of "more modern" contributors for that dower
I had underlined, BERNARD WILLIAMS [Atheist} and wife Shirley [AN R.C.!]
As being an unwelcome sight to effete thinking of godless men like me,
I am godless because I am truthful and long to establish this TRUTH here.
I would not have married GEO if she had accepted the R.C. atmosphere.
I had 67 years of married life with a dame who told the TRUTH.
For I cannot imagine an ATHEIST and a ROMAN CATHOLIC sharing the same roof.
Geo and I left the KIRK together when we decided to live as man and wife.
And I thought the union was quite the best that I could expect in this life.
I had hoped we would be centenarians but ALAS that SHE did not live to see.
Because Altziemer's and mild dementia caused her to fail to live on with me.
I used to often tell her
I was glad she seemed to be,
Happy and contented here with me,
And how pleased I've been,
To have a wife
With whom I can agree.
She really was a BEAUTY.
Both outwardly and in,
Especially the latter,
When others' praise came rolling in.
