I am nobody's Poodle.

I have dared to be a freethinker since my 1911 birth.
And I sometimes get surprising opposition from my relatives on Earth,
Here is a recent incident which revealed to me.
How a recent application of my personal rights has affected me.
In my old age my garden [ 3/4 acre size] began to be too much to bear.
for my decling powers and aging eyes.
So I thought I'd find a smaller place for Geo and me to dwell.
And used a plan for doing this and found an unaccustomed hell.
My decision to live in Arbroath seemed sensible to me.
So we [Geo and I] were told about the evil doings of our youngest girl Margie.
She has been accused of "uprooting " us "three short years ago'
When I thought it began with me planning a change from an arduous garden show,
In my view we were not "UPROOTED" by a greedy female child.
To suggest that is an insult to this self-directing though aging agent wild.
The next thing I object to is that I do not "feel let down and betrayed"
Because I am still the master of my future by the decisions I have made.
I am still a source of moral judgments on how to control my ways.
And accusers of my nonentity should rather give me praise.
I am my own ethical adviser and I can still steer our path of life
And I may yet surprise you all with the solidarity of me and my wife.
This is MY STORY -- THIS IS MY SONG.
I have been a good teacher all my life LONG.
I am still a FREETHINKER who rejects all their GODS.
That is my greatest achievement against ignorant squads.
The BBC standard of "MY LAND MUST BE FIRST'
Is a prominent factor in the war-making thirst.
Let the whole world be our nation
For then all my opponents will see,
That a fairy tale HEAVEN is a NONSENSICAL PLEA.
