Sci. Agriculture. Poultry FAQ's

These pages are being made up from the wealth of practical and technical knowledge that can be found on the newsgroup.  None of the topics are finished - they probably never will be - we always have something to learn. If there is something you wnat to know that is not here - get on the group and ask - they are a really friendly group and no question is too simple - and hopefully if it is complicated someone will be able to help find the answer. The group is made up from all walks of poultry keeping from 2 birds in the city to commercial egg and meat producers - and from all over the world.

INCUBATORS
Q:  Does anyone know of a good place to buy a small incubator?  It has to have an automatic turner because I work 12 hour shifts and can't be home to turn the eggs on time.
A:  listed on eBay -  Try the auction at www.poultryconnection.com  I have seen them there for
auction or your local feed store carries them as well  -  We purchased a Hova-bator brand styrofoam incubator with the automatic egg turner and fan.  We had a great hatch rate!  It even had a plastic insert you can remove from the bottom for cleaning.  Styrofoam does not clean well and lower hatch rates are eventurally the result.  This is a great plus for this unit!  Holds 48 chicken eggs. McMurray Hatcheries sells them as well as local co-ops and feed stores
