School Today

Kinnoull Primary School is one of 15 primary schools in the City of Perth and comes under the administration of Perth and Kinross District Council. Find out more about our local area through our links page:
We are a single stream school with seven classes, Primary One to Primary Seven. At present we have 215 pupils who start school at about the age of 5 years and leave us to attend secondary school when they are about 12 years old. Most of the children from Kinnoull complete their secondary education at Perth High School. Some schools in Perth have nursery classes attached, we do not have sufficient space for a nursery, but we do have very good and long established links with Kinnoull Church Play Nursery and enjoy visits from the older nursery children who come across the road from the church hall to work and play in school from April each year.
We have one teacher for each class and a teacher to help give extra support in any class when required. Two of the teachers are "Senior Teachers" who are able to give help to the Headteacher and to student teachers as well as providing extra support to colleagues. We also are lucky in having specialist teachers of art, music and physical education coming to visit us as well as a learning support teacher.
All the teaching staff are helped by two clerical staff, a school auxiliary, a lunch time supervisor and our school caretaker.

The staff
In addition to all the people employed at the school we get lots of help and support from parents. Many parents come into school to help out, some run extra-curricular activities, others help by supporting or running Kinnoull School Association ( our PTA ) and some are members of our School Board.
Pupils too help keep the school a happy place for everyone by following our "Golden Rules". The older children play a very important part in making playtimes even better by acting as "Assistant Playtime Supervisors".
The school curriculum is like all state controlled schools in Scotland based on the National (Scottish ) "5-14 Curriculum Guidelines ". See our links page to find out more about Scottish Education.
Our Aims can be summarised as "Helping each pupil to achieve all that he or she is capable of. Engendering a love for learning. Maintaining a school environment in which EVERYONE feels safe and valued".
