The KSA Christmas Fair on Saturday 5th December was once again a great success. Thanks to the efforts of the KSA committee before the event and the efforts of all involved on the day the sum of £2050 has been raised. There are a few unclaimed raffle prizes in the school office.

School Calendars are on sale in the school office for £2.50 each or three for £6.00. These make ideal Christmas presents.

Class parties take place as follows:

Primary 1 and Primary 2 Friday 18th December

Primary 3 Wednesday 16th December

Primary 4 and Primary 5 Thursday 17th December

Primary 6 and Primary 7 Tuesday 15th December

Parties finish at normal end of day times.

The School Board is seeking to appoint a clerk. The post presents an opportunity to become involved in the work of the school and to learn more about the education service. The post is remunerated and is not particularly demanding on time. For further details please contact the Board Chairperson, Mrs Morag Bull.

The Drugs Education Evening last month proved to be a very interesting and informative event. P.C. Douglas Pover M.B.E. explained elements of the drugs education programme currently being delivered in many local schools. Also of interest was information about national and local trends in drug abuse and the signs and symptoms of drug taking.

The main focus of our last staff in-service days was raising standards of attainment. During the course of discussion it became clear that many pupils were failing to achieve targets that they were capable of reaching, due to lack of attention to detail, failure to read or listen to instructions and failure to check over their work.Later next term we will introduce an awards scheme to regularly highlight the importance of attention to detail in schoolwork and send out the message that "only your best will do ".

Our end of term assembly will be held in Kinnoull Church at 11.00am on Tuesday 22nd December. Parents and friends are welcome to join us.

At the end of the service pupils will be taken back to their classes where they will be dismissed for the Christmas break at 12.00 noon.

School starts the Spring term on Wednesday 6th January 1999.

Best wishes for the festive season from all the Kinnoull Staff
