What does the Historic Burghs Association of Scotland do?

The Association:

  • organises annual conferences of seminal importance to planning for historic towns in Scotland and promotes events that draw attention to environmental quality issues for the preservation and enhancement of historic towns;
  • publishes leading edge reports on health checks in Scotland’s historic towns and on sustainable transport;
  • is seeking to establish a European network for best practice in Sustainable development in historic towns;
  • will continue to develop links with Scottish Eductaional Institutions to research elements of design and quality that promote vitality in historic towns;
  • promotes a Scottish Burghs Centre for the Millennium.
