Woodlands High School is a full six-year comprehensive school situated in the centre of Falkirk. It is the smallest of the town's four secondary schools, with a roll of just over 500 pupils. This enables the staff to get to know the individual pupils well and this important aspect of school life is one at which we work very hard.
The school opened in 1964 as a Junior High School, catering for the first four years of pupils' secondary education. By the mid-1970s, this had been extended to allow students to complete their full six years within the school. Today we offer the full range of courses available in Scotland - Standard Grades, Higher Grades, Certificate of Sixth Year Studies and ScotVec National Certificate Modules.
However, the school is not all work. We are happy that Woodlands High makes provision for its pupils to involve themselves in a wide variety of sporting, cultural and leisure-time activities and provides opportunities for them to contribute to their community.
Plans are well-advanced to develop the school over the next 2 - 3 years. The new Games Hall is nearing completion, with major reconstruction and expansion of classroom accommodation to follow.
