Over 400 pupils from 60 schools in Scotland and Northern Ireland are now in touch with one another and Royal Mail "Letter By Letter" is looking forward to linking up many more pupils in 1996. Royal Mail (Scotland and Northern Ireland) are presently considering how best they can assist with the scheme.
At present we have a number of Scots still waiting for pen pals in Northern Ireland. Can you help? Perhaps you have friends who might like Scottish pen pals. Do you have friends in other schools who might like to join "Letter By Letter"? Perhaps you could print them out an application form. We are always pleased to hear from teachers who are willing to act as a school contact for Royal Mail "Letter By Letter".
It was great for me, the RE teacher, to have the chance to visit Northern Ireland in April this year and meet so many of the Royal Mail "Letter By Letter" pupils there. Nicola Clark has recently visited the pen pal in Portadown that she was put in touch with through Royal Mail "Letter By Letter", and I could post her story on our web pages if you would like to hear it.
We all hope that you have a really good Christmas and send best wishes for a Happy New Year in 1996 to you and your family and friends.
On behalf of Royal Mail "Letter By Letter",
Ian Cranston,
RE Teacher.
Gayle Peters,
Pupil Coordinator, Royal Mail "Letter By Letter".
