AIMS OF THE DEPARTMENT
 
  • To encourage an interest in religion and moral issues in a spirit of open enquiry, tolerance and respect for others.
  • To help pupils build up their knowledge of important religious and moral beliefs.
  • To help pupils understand why people hold particular beliefs and attitudes and what it is like to belong to a faith community.
  • To help pupils develop and practise skills of investigating religious and moral issues.
  • To help pupils develop their own views on questions of meaning, value and purpose on terms of personal ideals, beliefs and attitudes.
  • To help pupils formulate and express reasoned arguments for their own opinions on religious and moral issues.
