FOR PARENTS
It is school policy to involve parents as fully as possible in all decisions involving their child.
Parent's Evenings are held throughout the year and the Rector sends regular Newsletters to all parents (Usually at the start or end of a term).
A weekly "Academy Notes" item in the Alloa Advertiser helps keep the wider community informed of the activities and outstanding achievements in the school.
The school, under Development Planning, has involved parents as committee members on the Ethos and Safety Committee and the Drugs Committee.
Parents wishing to discuss matters concerning the welfare of their child are welcome to contact the appropriate member of the Guidance staff, either by telephone or letter, to arrange a meeting.
PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION
The school has a strong Parent Teacher Association, which has been very successful in
raising funds for the school.
Thanks to the joint efforts of parents and teachers during the past year, contributions have been made towards obtaining the new strips for school teams,
purchasing a bicycle stand and drug education, amongst other items. Over the past five years, £5,000 has been raised.
Fund-raising events such as Bingo Teas, Countdown, Discos and Raffles have proven to be great fun for all who have
participated.
Assistance, whether as a helper, a contributor, or a committee member is always welcomed. The General Committee hold office for one year and re-elections are held annually in September.
For information on how to get involved
in making Alloa Academy a great place for pupils and parents, contact the Rector, Mr Barker, or obtain the
name of the Committee Chairperson from the school office.
REMEMBER - WHAT A SCHOOL GIVES OUT DEPENDS ON WHATEVER IS PUT IN...... TO MAKING IT SUCCESSFUL.
THE SCHOOL BOARD
The school allows parents to contribute their views on such matters as Headteacher's plans for expenditure and selection of
senior promoted staff.
Meetings take place every 4-6 weeks and are open to parents and staff. Minutes of meetings are available in the school library.
Every member of the School Board normally holds office for four years.
Elections are held every two years.
