OUR SCHOOL
HISTORY
Alloa Academy was founded in 1824 by public subscription as a fee-paying school.
The school has seen many changes and has occupied a number of sites in Alloa. In
1959 a new building was opened at Claremont on the Western edge of the town but it
was only when a £3 million extension was opened in 1988 that the whole school was able to be
housed on this site.
The school badge is an extract from the arms of Alloa Academy and the School Motto
is "Circumspice" or "Look Aboot Ye". We like to think that our staff and pupils
always "Look Aboot" for beneficial opportunities and ways to improve themselves and
their school community.
FUTURE
The school will continue to be at the forefront of educational developments. We are
already considering new ways of making new technology work to the continuing benefit
of our pupils. It is anticipated that further investment will be made in new technology
thanks to new government initiatives and our close links with the Alloa West project.
Our intention is to encourage our pupils to learn from the past and to learn for
the future.
