I've never done this race but often drive past the hill on my way up and down the M9. The hill forms a large steep slope facing the prevailing southwesterly winds so is used by the local gliders to get lift as the wind rattles up the hill. This means you can expect a following wind up the hill. In March that wind could be boisterous and really exhilerating.
