From Milngavie to Fort William
Apparently you need to be able to eat and drink plenty and run slowly to do this race so I don't understand why I have not done it and won it.
The previous holder of the ladies record came I believe second or third the year she did it. She also psyched out the guy in front of her at Bridge of Orchy by drinking a snatched pint of lager. The news that not only was she running well but scoffing lager served to weaken number two's resolve.
One well known lady spent the week before, Rommell style leaving caches of food along the route. On the Friday night she booked into an hotel in Fort William and then changed into running gear and got the last train the ninety miles back to Glasgow, a taxi to the start and then ran back to the food dumps and all her standard issue clothing in Fort William. Self reliant or what?
There are many interesting tales of dering do on the race. Slower runners are on their feet for maybe thirty hours so that you might be running as a pair mid morning on Sunday when your partner just disappears. A sleepy stumble leading to a full blown zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Beware gentle surfer this race will wreck you!!!!!!
