This record was purchased privately some years ago. Also included in the deal was the original leaflet that went with the record. This is reproduced above, whilst the record label is illustrated below. The record is unusual as one side sports a Lindström matrix number whilst the other has a Polydor matrix number. The side shown has a recording of the speech President Paul von Hindenberg (1847-1935) of the German Weimar Republic made on his eighty-fifth birthday in 1932. Paul von Hindenburg was President of the Weimar Republic from 1925 to 1934. Hitler came to power in 1933 towards the end of Hindenburg’s tenure of office.
