Rye Pottery have produced a range of charming porcelain figurines.
They are perhaps most famous for the 'Sussex Pig' shown here.
The Sussex Pig is full of character and a beautiful decorative
piece; it also opens up into a jug and cup!
Forms of Life
Irish born artist Raymond Kinghan established the Forms of Life
studio in 1993, where his unique collection of bird sculptures
are created. The birds are handmade and hand painted by specially
trained staff in the studio which is based in Dublin city,
Ireland. A process called Raku is used in the final stage
of the making process. This process differs from conventional
kiln firing. The pieces are heated rapidly to melt the glaze
and the sculptures are then embedded in sawdust which bursts
into flame. This results in the burning and blackening of
the clay and enhances the colour and surface quality of the
glaze. No two birds are identical.
Emaux de Longwy
Chintz and China is the exclusive UK supplier of Emaux de
Longwy collectible glazed porcelains. The luxurious colours
of these pieces can be seen in the photograph (right), but
the deep textures ands craquelure of the porcelain has to
be experienced first hand to be fully appreciated.
Vienna Bronzes
These figurines by Petri Bronzen are produced using the same traditional methods used in 1850 when Vienna Bronzes was founded. They are a link to the past, satirizing and caricaturing the Viennese high society and royal family of the 19th century in the form of stylised cats, frogs and dogs
Halcyon Days
Halcyon Days ranges of fine limoge figurines and objects are a
delight to behold. Of particular note are the fine miniatureporcelain
