All of the services are available to those who are HIV positive or
directly personally
affected by HIV. The organisation defines directly personally affected as those who
have, or have had, a close friend, partner or family member who is HIV positive.
First time users of the service do not need to be referred as they can
contact the
organisation by telephone or drop in. In recognition of the difficulty many people
face accessing a service for the first time it may be possible to arrange for individuals
to come and look around the project out-with drop in times if that is preferable.
Alternatively, an HIV positive volunteer from the project may be able to meet with
potential service users outside the project to chat about what the organisation offers.
Individuals who use services regularly are encouraged to become members
of Body
Positive Tayside. Membership is free and entitles individuals to free newsletter
and updates from the organisation. The project also has a "Friends of Body Positive
Tayside" for those who are not HIV positive or personally affected by HIV but who
have an interest in the organisation and would like to support our work. Friends of
Body Positive pay an annual membership fee and receive newsletters regular updates
and have the opportunity to have their name in our annual report.
Members of the organisation can make a request for a new support group
to be
developed, requests should be made to a member of staff or a volunteer.
If you would like to become a member or a friend of Body Positive
Tayside, please
contact us, we look forward to hearing from
you.
