DCI Details Click Here
Approx date started Magic Easter 1996? (Alliances came out just after)
Favourite Card Necro
Favourite Set/Expansion Alliances
Favourite all time deck Necro
Best tourney moment ever My first duel of my first match of my first round of my first Pro-Tour (Chicago). Playing Brian Hacker and holding off his 4/4 Black knight for SEVEN turns with a frenetic efreet while my second frenetic beats him about the head. Its better to be lucky than good!
Worst tourney moment ever Discovering on return from Chicago that it was not in fact a Chinese 5th Ed Disk with a new picture I had been playing with but a Time Bomb.(I could have been thrown out of the Pro-Tour for an illegal deck) Considering the three players I actually played it against believed it to be a disk as well shows how much 5th Ed tourney players buy!
Favourite opponent to meet in a tourney Anyone who groans when they're drawn against me.
Least favourite opponent to meet in a tourney Anyone on points under 1600 as they usually nick all my points.
If I didn't play Magic I'd like to be a Ski Bum (that owned a pub on the slopes)

What the other Team Highlander's think of Dougie:

Mark said -- My all time favourite Dougie moment is every time he farts - something he did a lot in Amsterdam
Clark said -- Dougie -- Dougie bad back. As he always holds up tourneys
Gary said -- Dougie -- Always seems to be at the 3rd bottom table and when prizes are called out he's 3rd or 4th. The oldest student in the Universe. Never any money, but smokes and drinks.
Craig said -- Dougie: The "enigma" of the Highlanders. How does he win? Answer: the luckiest dick in the world.
Joules said -- Dougie "Backdoor" Anderson. The man I`m only used to meeting at the bar in Edinburgh tournies, and nearly always to tell me a tale of woe. Somehow, he`s always in the top 8 and I`m not, ..........but I was at the top table all day and never saw him nearby......Ah there's the backdoor!

Dougie's words of wisdom:

Joules; the man who introduced me to the game, always has an idea for a deck but usually can't stay sober enough to win tourneys.
Mark; Does one of two things at tourneys, In the top 8 or the bottom 8 (usually with his own deck that he built 3 seconds before the tourney started)
Gary; Was king of the Hymn in the good old days of Necro (still is in extended) and always played Black. Has an innate ability to top deck like a true professional that lake or drain that is required to save his bacon. Still looking for that modern day equivalent. Possibly a slower player than Craig.
Clark; Greets about everything and anything, If he's not winning then magic is crap and if he is winning then everyone else's playing is crap.
Craig; Prison decks are known as Mason decks in Dundee, When he and Gary are drawn against each other it's 7-1 odds on for a draw (no matter what either is playing)
Silas; Actually it's been so long since he played in a tourney I've forgotten who he is. Ah! that's right! Is that a fin in the water?
Iain; G'day! An obsession with Australian decks and less mistakes in his game play has seen Iain sneak above the 1600 mark. For how long we ask ourselves, well probably a wee bit as he just beat me for the first time ever and stole lots of points. (I was mana gubbed, I got a crap draw etc, etc, etc)
Darren; Mr Ovinomancer, nothing more can or needs to be said.

As for me, my decks and my playstyle/ability? Well, lets just say that there is a certain skill in drawing the right card at the right time. Some people have this talent and some people don't. And some people are truly masters at this incredibly skillfull ability. It's better to be lucky than good! I know.
