Setting up my own IT consultancy company. Primarily providing IT support for local schools and businesses in the region. eCommerce (OSCommerce) & CMS (Joomla) websites as well as small software programming jobs. Recently we became the sole importer of Infrant ReadyNAS in New Zealand.

In charge of all IT related activities within this parts importer/exporter. Achievements included upgrading main parts/accounts database to Foxpro 8; updating client interfaces; installation of a DB server, remote access & computer security; updating web site and upgrading network, client PC's and telephony. Duties included liaising with third party equipment suppliers, requirements analysis, testing, user training, licensing, computer security, purchasing and budget control. Also took control of advertising which within two months had a dramatically positive effect.

Developing "call centre", core switch and voice-mail software using Microsoft Visual C++ and Borland C++ Builder 5.

  • Research, design, and implementation of VPIM to provide industry standard message delivery interface via SMTP/MIME for IP Office and INDeX voice-mail systems.
  • Modification of voice-mail COM server to provide additional interfaces to new MAPI and sound conversion routines.
  • Design and implementation of INDeX Personal Numbering transaction database using a mixture of DAO and SQL.
  • Design and implementation of INDeX Personal Numbering call-flow using OmniVox/Omniview and Visual C++.
  • Design and implementation of IP Office call center web interface using HTML, JavaScript and CGI.  The CGI executable used COM interfaces to connect to the voice-mail server.
  • Extensive maintenance and debugging of INDeX MFC (SDI) based clients and servers.
  • In charge of Japanese conversion of INDeX and IP Office Voice Mail products including creation and testing of operating system, user interface, call-flow and speech files in the UK and at our partner site in Japan.

    School centred initial teacher training, giving the skills and knowledge necessary to teach Secondary School pupils (11 to 18 year old) in any subject with a specialisation in ICT. The course entailed full class teaching in two secondary schools in Colchester (Alderman Blaxill School & The Philip Morant School and College) as well as a sixth year college and primary school placement. The PGCE element was supported by weekly lectures at the University of Essex.
